How Thai builds words

Most Thai words are made of other Thai words.

ThaiDai shows you the seams. A learner who knows น้ำ (water) and แข็ง (hard) can read น้ำแข็ง (ice) off the script the first time. We capture that structure in the schema and surface it on every card. Once you see the pattern, the lexicon stops being a memorisation pile and starts being a Lego set.

Two modes, on purpose

Study a thing first. Practise it after.

Most apps drop you straight into a quiz. You're guessing at words you've never met, tapping wrong, losing streak hearts, feeling stupid. We split it: read, listen, browse — then prove what you remember. No XP for studying. All XP for practice. The streak rewards both.

Why it sounds right

Thai sounds like Thai.

Most Thai apps ship audio that sounds like an English speaker reading romanisation. The vowel lengths drift, the syllable-final consonants stay open. We tested every model. Only one closed ส to /t/, kept vowel lengths intact, and sounded like a real person.

Native-trained Thai voice on every word

Audio for every word and phrase in the corpus. Pre-cached for the free tier; generated and cached on first request for Pro.

Compositional pedagogy

Phrases unlock once you have learned the parts. The deck shows you the etymology — which words combined to make this one — so each new entry leans on what you already know.

Streaks and six levels

Six tiers from Novice to Native-adjacent. The streak is the teacher.
